LAW PROFESSOR TO GIVE U.S. FOREIGN POLICY TALK TOMORROW

University of New Mexico Professor of Law Timothy Canova, who recently returned from Israel after participating in an intensive fellowship program on security and counter terrorism, will give a talk on United States foreign policy, the war on terrorism and the Arab-Israeli conflict on Thursday, June 26, at 6 p.m. at the UNM School of Law.

Hosted by the UNM International Law Student Association, Canova's talk offers those interested an opportunity to visit with him about his experience in Israel before he leaves for a one-year visiting professorship at the University of Arizona.

Canova was one of 20 professors nationwide to receive a fellowship to Israel, awarded by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), a non-profit, non-partisan think-tank based in Washington, D.C.

His visit to Israel included meetings with diplomats, military and intelligence officials from Israel, Jordan, India, Turkey and the United States, as well as visits to military bases, police, customs, immigration facilities and Israel's border areas with Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza.

A question/answer discussion session will follow the talk.
