August 6, 2003 CAMPUS ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY CONFERENCE TO BE HELD AT UNM On Aug. 11 and 12, UNM will host the first annual New Mexico College and University Environmental Health and Safety Conference. The conference, sponsored by Safety Health and Environmental Affairs (SHEA), brings together representatives from major colleges and universities in New Mexico to discuss environmental issues and solutions. Regulators from various agencies such as the New Mexico Environment Department, State Risk Management, State Fire Marshall and OSHA will meet with the college and university representatives to talk about future regulatory trends and to share solutions to common problems faced by institutes of higher learning. The school representatives will also share lessons learned over the years and talk about new pollution prevention initiatives at some schools that can be adopted by others. Presentations on new methods of creating safer waste water as well as pollution prevention in the arts are scheduled. # # #
