ELLINGBOE HONORED BY COMPOSERS' SOCIETY

University of New Mexico Music Professor Bradley Ellingboe recently received a fourth consecutive annual award given by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

The award, ASCAP Plus, is given "to assist and encourage writers of serious music." The cash award is granted by an independent panel and based upon the value of each writer's catalog of original compositions, as well as recent performances of those works.

ASCAP-- the American Society of Composers, Arrangers and Publishers-- counts Irving Berlin as one of its founding members. Membership includes musicians active in all major genres including classical, pop, jazz and film music. The panel judged Ellingboe's body of work as a whole. This includes more than 70 published pieces of choral music sung at schools and churches around the country.

"It is an honor and privilege to have been honored by my peers in this way," Ellingboe said.
