Sept. 3, 2003 PARKING & TRAFFIC ALERT - REDONDO DRIVE CLOSED 9/4/03 Motorists are asked to heed a parking and traffic alert being issued
by the University of New Mexico's Parking and Transportation Services
in conjunction with the nationally-televised (PBS) New Mexico Democratic
Presidential Debate scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. (MDT) Thursday, Sept.
4, 2003, in UNM's Popejoy Hall. Redondo Drive between Stanford and Yale (the Bookstore/Popejoy area)
will be CLOSED to general traffic all day Thursday, Sept. 4,
2003. Only credentialed police and emergency vehicles, buses and broadcast
media vehicles will be admitted. All other motorists are asked to please
avoid the area. Both visitor parking lots will be closed all day. Alternative parking for persons with state-issued handicapped parking placards may be found in the Student Health parking lot or at any available permit parking space or meter. Others should utilize permit parking or park at "The Pit" at University and Avenida de Cesar Chavez. Shuttle service via the South Lot Shuttle is available from the Research Park stop two blocks north of the Pit. This event is by ticket only. Event attendees should take the event shuttles from "The Pit" beginning at 3 p.m. Motorists are advised not to drive to the UNM campus to participate in events associated with the debate. Those attending classes or campus functions Thursday should expect to encounter reduced parking opportunities, event trucks and political rallies. # # # |
