October 8, 2003 UNMS ANDERSON SCHOOLS MBA PROGRAM RECOGNIZED FOR SOCIAL IMPACT
MANAGEMENT IN 2003 BEYOND GREY PINSTRIPES REPORT The Anderson Schools of Management at The University of New Mexico
were one of 15 schools worldwide recognized as showing significant
activities in social impact management in the 2003 Beyond Grey
Pinstripes report. In this study, six MBA programs, including George Washington University,
Michigan, North Carolina, Stanford, Yale and York (Toronto, Canada),
were named as Programs at the Cutting Edge. According to the report, UNMs greatest strength is Inside
the Classroom. The Marketing Management program was cited for
incorporating topics such as social and green marketing, consumer protection
and global citizenship. The Beyond Grey Pinstripes report, prepared by the World Resources
Institute and The Aspen Institute Initiative for Social Innovation through
Business, honors MBA programs that infuse environmental and social impact
management into the classroom, activities and faculty research. The biennial survey of Masters Degree programs in Business Administration
assesses to what extent MBA programs prepare graduates for social and
environmental stewardship in their careers. The 2003 survey covers the
2001-02 and 2002-03 academic years and includes data from more than
100 business schools in 20 countries. UNM was one of 16 schools honored
in 2001. The survey gathers data in three areas including institutional support,
coursework and faculty. An emphasis regarding the importance of preparing
students for a more comprehensive approach to social and environmental
stewardship was utilized in judging the schools. Comparisons were made
on the basis of their accomplishments across both domains, rather than
excellence in one category or the other. For more information on the programs at The Anderson Schools, visit the website at http://www.mgt.unm.edu. # # # |
