Oct. 13, 2003 UNM School of Law to host Child Abuse/Neglect Case Lecture The University of New Mexico School of Law will be hosting a summit
"Representing Children in Abuse/Neglect Cases, Is it time for a
change?" Oct. 14-15. A reception with the Honorable Jimenez Maes, Chief Justice, NM Supreme
Court, kicks off the summit on Tuesday, 5:30 p.m., at the UNM School
of Law, 1117 Stanford NE. A presentation titled, "Giving Children a Voice - Why It Matters,"
by Jennifer Rodriguez, a law student and former foster child, follows
the reception. The summit will continue on Wednesday from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., at the Old
Town Sheraton, 800 Rio Grande Blvd SW, with presentations, panels, a
networking lunch and small group discussions. Featured visitors and
speakers will include Don Duquette, clinical professor of law, University
of Michigan; Jean Koh Peters, clinical professor of law, Yale University;
Jennifer Renne, assistant director of Child Welfare, ABA Center on Children
& the Law; and Marvin Ventrell, executive director, National Association
