Oct. 24, 2003 CONVOCATION CELEBRATES INDIAN LAW GRADUATES, LAW CLINIC ANNIVERSARY
The 10th annual Indian law convocation at the University of New Mexico
School of Law will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the
Bondurant Lecture Hall, Rm. 2401, Bratton Hall, 1117 Stanford N.E. Native American law students and students who earn certificates in
Indian law will be honored. In addition, the event celebrates the anniversary
of the Southwest Indian Law Clinic, established a decade ago with legislation
sponsored by New Mexico State Senator Leonard Tsosie, a 1992 Navajo
graduate of the UNM law school. A long time supporter of the clinic, Tsosie will give the keynote address.
"The Southwest Indian Law Clinic serves Indian people and institutions
while preparing students to practice Indian Law," said Law Professor
Kip Bobroff. "The support of Sen. Tsosie and the legislature helped
build one of the best Indian Law clinics in the country, an important
component of serving New Mexico tribes and their citizens." The School of Law, Indian Law Certificate Program, Southwest Indian Law Clinic, American Indian Law Center, Inc. and Native American Law Students Association sponsor the event. ### |
