Oct. 29, 2003 MEXICAN AMBASSADOR TO DISCUSS BORDER WATER ISSUES Alberto Szekely, Mexican ambassador for border resources issues, will
discuss, "U.S./Mexico Water Issues: What the Future Holds in Store,"
on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 12:15 p.m. at the University of New Mexico School
of Law, Bratton Hall, rm. 2401. The ambassador's free talk is the third in four-part distinguished
speaker series featuring water resources experts and policy makers discussing
critical issues in water resources management in New Mexico. The School
of Law's Utton Transboundary Resources Center and UNM Water Resources
Program sponsor the series. Szekely, who attended Tufts and Harvard Universities and earned his
Ph.D. from the University of London, College of Laws, will focus on
water agreements between the U.S. and Mexico and the water supply along
the border. A career ambassador, he has served with the Mexico Foreign
Service since 1986. Szekely gives guest lectures on international law and conducts a private
international legal consulting business from Mexico City specializing
in international environmental law, the law of the sea and transboundary
resources issues including environmental zoning and land use planning.
