Employment recruiters from more than 62 public service agencies will
be on hand for a Public Service Career Showcase the University of New
Mexico Student Union building (SUB) ballroom Thursday, Nov. 20 from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Co-hosted by the New Mexico Consortium of Career Educators and Employers
and U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the showcase is on a
two-day "circuit" and begins at New Mexico State University
(NMSU) in Las Cruces Tuesday, Nov. 18. Students from nearly all New Mexico colleges and universities have
been invited to attend. The career fair is in response to the President's
Call To Serve Initiative, said Mary Montaño, placement manager
for the UNM Office of Career Services. "The OPM is providing unprecedented support paying the showcase
registration fee for federal employers," Montaño said. "OPM
is serious about recruiting the best and the brightest paying close
attention to diversity." In addition, several workshops will be offered on topics such as "Working
For America," "Resume Writing" and "Interview Skills." The showcase is open to all students and community members interested in public service careers. ### |
