November 11, 2003 INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED ARCHITECT TO SPEAK AT UNM The University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning features
internationally known architect Anthony Lumsden presenting, "Architectural
Mutation: Serial Technology," Friday, Nov. 14, 4:30 p.m. in room
2018 in the Center for the Arts on UNM's main campus. Lumsden's presentation explores the relationship between systems such
as nature, the human body, and logic and how it affects architecture
and the dynamic creative process. "As the system evolves, it mutates and this happens in a series
from old architecture and new architecture as well as in other creative
activities," Lumsden said. A graduate of the architecture program at the University of Sydney,
Australia, Lumsden is currently president and design principal for A.J.
Lumsden and Associates (AJLA), founded in 1993. Recent AJLA projects
include the School of Social and Behavioral Science building at California
State University in San Bernardino. A mainstream modernist, Lumsden is the design architect for the Ontario
International Airport in California. He was awarded the 2003 Gold Medal
by the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
The lecture is free and open to the public. # # # |
