UNM STUDENTS INDUCTED INTO TAU SIGMA DELTA HONOR SOCIETY

Roger Schluntz, dean of the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning, recently announced induction of 13 graduate and six undergraduate students as members of the UNM chapter of Tau Sigma Delta National Honor Society, the only honor society recognized in the fields of architecture and the allied arts.

Allied arts, in UNM's case, includes landscape architecture and community and regional planning.

The students inducted are in the top 20 percent of their class. Of them, Schluntz said, "These honor students have demonstrated both the rigor and achievement necessary to address the complexity and challenges confronting the design and planning professions. They are, I believe, our future leaders. They represent well our hope for a sustainable future and an improved quality of life accessible to all citizens."

The following undergraduate students were admitted to the UNM chapter, Gamma Lambda:

  • Margaret Heaphy; architecture, graduate of Albuquerque High School
  • Laureen McKenzie; environmental design; from Holliston, Mass.
  • Shane Mosbey; environmental design; from Rock Springs, Wyo.
  • Sara Neighbor; architecture, from Alburnett, Iowa
  • Anthony Santi; architecture, graduate of Eldorado High School, Albuquerque
  • Robert Williams; architecture, graduate of Rio Grande High School, Albuquerque

The following graduate students were also admitted. Their current programs and previous degrees and/or institutions are also noted:

  • Thomas Tomlinson; graduate of the Albuquerque Academy, bachelor's in fine arts, UNM

Tau Sigma Delta, founded in 1913 at the University of Michigan, is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, giving Tau Sigma Delta the high rating of most distinguished honor societies in other educational fields.
