UNM ANNOUNCES HOLIDAY HOURS

The winter holidays at UNM officially begin Monday, Dec. 22 and extend through Friday, Jan. 2, giving most University employees 16 consecutive days off. Regular University hours resume on Monday, Jan. 5.

UNM President Louis Caldera recently announced that Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 22-23 would be included in the winter holidays.

Certain critical facilities and departments, such as police and those involved in patient care, will remain open during the holidays. Other major campus departments and facilities have listed special holiday hours.

The University libraries have announced holiday hours. They include:

  • All branches of the General Library closed Dec. 21-Jan. 4; Centennial Science and Engineering Library, intersession, open Mon.-Thurs. 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; closed weekends. Parish Memorial Library and the Fine Arts Library, Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-5 p.m; closed weekends. Zimmerman Library, intersession open Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

  • Health Sciences Center Library: open Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 22- 23, 9:30 a.m. -6 p.m.; closed Wednesday-Thursday, Dec. 24-25; open Friday-Saturday, Dec. 26-27, 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; open Sunday, Dec. 28, noon- 6 p.m.; open Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 29-30, 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; closed Wednesday, Dec. 31-Thursday, Jan.1, 2004; open Friday, Jan. 2, 9:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. Regular hours resume Saturday, Jan. 3.

The CIRT building will close for Winter Break Monday, Dec. 22 at 7 a.m. The Main Entrance to CIRT (near the Support Center) will reopen for general business Monday, Jan. 5, at 7:30 a.m.

CIRT computer pods will be open at various times during intersession (Dec. 20, 2003 through Jan. 20, 2004) but will be closed during winter break.

Check the pod Web site, www.unm.edu/cirt/pods, for open hours. All computer systems, networks and dial-up lines will be available. Jobs requesting manual tape mounts will not be run. No print output will be available for pick-up during the closure. Print output will be available for pick up after the building re-opens. CIRT technical staff will be available for any system problems.

The Student Union Building will be closed Sunday, Dec. 21 through Sunday, Jan. 4. It will be open Monday, Jan. 5 through Friday, Jan. 16 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The SUB will be closed weekends on Jan. 10, 11, 17, 18 and also on Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day.

The UNM Bookstore will be open Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 22-23 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.; and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 29-30 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Regular hours resume on Monday, Jan. 5.
