UNM PSYCHOLOGY CHAIR ELECTED FELLOW OF THE AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

Mark A. McDaniel, professor and chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of New Mexico, has been elected by his peers as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) for 2004.

APA Fellows are selected for their exceptional and outstanding contributions to the research, teaching or practice of psychology. Additionally, Fellows must also demonstrate the national impact of their work, such as numerous research-based publications and leadership roles within psychology or community service in their clinical practice.

McDaniel received his degree from the University of Colorado in 1980, and since 1994 has worked at UNM. He is in his first year as chair of the Psychology department.

APA’s membership includes more than 150,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students. Through its divisions in 53 subfields of psychology and affiliations with 60 state, territorial, and Canadian provincial associations, APA works to advance psychology as a science, as a profession, and as a means of promoting human welfare.

Located in Washington, D.C., the American Psychological Association is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and is the world’s largest association of psychologists.
