The New Mexico Chapter of the National Association of Industrial Office Properties (NAIOP) at its recent 2003 NAIOP Awards of Excellence program conferred an "Award of Merit" on the University of New Mexico School of Law's Fred Hart addition. The award was made in the category "educational facilities." Mazria Riskin Odems Architects, Santa Fe, NM, designed the Hart addition, completed in July 2002. The general contractor was Gerald Martin Ltd, Albuquerque. The UNM School of Law received a $750,000 Kresge Foundation challenge
grant to expand and renovate its facilities, which included construction
of the 32,000 sq. ft. Hart addition. The facility has eight classrooms,
including one that can be converted to a courtroom, a dedicated courtroom
and four seminar rooms. Teaching spaces are wired for the most advanced
multimedia technology, including computer, Internet and videoconferencing
capabilities. # # # |
