April 22, 2002 UNM Take Our Daughters to Work Day set
for April 25 The University of New Mexico is hosting Take Our Daughters to Work
Day, Thursday, The event is open to all daughters of UNM employees and students ages
8 to 12. Registration will take place from 8:30 to 8:45 a.m. at the Centennial
Plaza located next to Centennial Library. Scheduled demonstrations include: Interactive and hands-on chemistry
demonstrations by Dr. Dana Brabson, 9 a.m. A physics demonstration by
Kahty Dimiduk, 10 a.m. A water demonstration with Civil Engineering by
Dr. Julia Coonrod, 11 a.m. Lunch sponsored by SOE will be provided at noon. Dr. Dana Brabson will
have a rocket launch demonstration throughout lunch. At 12:50 p.m. participants will be shuttled to north campus and arrive
at the School of Medicine. Participants will be escorted to Dr. Kathryn
Foucars Laboratory in the Basic Medical Science Building, 3rd Floor
at 1:20 p.m. where a demonstration and hands-on exercise of the 10-headed
microscope will be held. At 2 p.m. a BATCAVE (Basic Advanced Trauma Computer
Assisted Virtual Experience) human simulation program demonstration. At
2:30 p.m. participants will be given a tour of UNM helicopter pad. At
3:30 p.m. participants will tour the Occupational Therapy Program and
will participate in wheelchair races. They will also look at parasites
under the microscope At 4 p.m. the girls will be escorted to the shuttle stop on the SE Corner
of M Lot (by Family Practice Center and the Medical Center Library) and
