UNM SELECTED ONE OF 10 HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND SCHOLAR CHAPTERS

The University of New Mexico has been chosen one of 10 chapters in the nation to be part of the Scholar Chapter network by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF).

A reception to recognize outstanding Hispanic scholars and to launch the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar Chapter at UNM will be held Thursday, April 18 at Johnson Center from 5 to 8 p.m.

UNM joins the first five chapters at Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, University of California-Berkeley and University of Texas-Austin to honor Hispanic students.

Alex Gonzalez, UNM Scholarship Office supervisor, said the event will honor UNM’s outstanding Hispanic students.

“UNM has an outstanding group of Hispanic students,” Gonzalez said. “This reception will honor those who will be soon making a valuable contribution to their respected fields.”

In addition to HSF scholars, UNM officials, staff from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, HSF alumni from the surrounding area and representatives from The Goldman Sachs Foundation will be in attendance.
