UNM FRATERNITY TO HOST SEPT. 11 REMEMBRANCE EVENT
In response to United States President George W. Bush's call to mark the three-
month anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity is
leading a nationwide initiative to encourage events on college campuses.
Members of UNM's Phi Gamma Delta house, 1801 Mesa Vista Rd. NE, will host a
remembrance event tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6:30 to 7 a.m.
President Bush has asked countries to hold remembrance events and play their
national anthems at the exact moment the first airplane struck the World Trade
Center in New York (8:46 a.m. eastern time).
Members of Phi Gamma Delta "will hold a moment of silence and bring students
together to remember this tragic event," said UNM student Grant Nichols,
chapter president.. Coffee and doughnuts will be served.
The president will lead the worldwide initiative with the playing of the national anthem web cast live from the White House on its web site www.whitehouse.gov.
