UNM Video and Photo Opportunities for Dec. 3-9

The following is a list of events and activities occurring at the University of New Mexico during Dec. 3-9.

Monday, Dec. 3
Performance: The UNM Guitar Ensemble, 6 p.m., Keller Hall, 277-2131.

Performance: Las Cantantes, the UNM Women’s Chorus Christmas concert with Jennaya Robinson, director, 7:30 p.m., UNM Alumni Chapel, 277-2131.

Tuesday, Dec. 4
Performance: Student String Chamber Music directed by UNM String faculty, noon, Keller Hall, 277-2131.

Presentation: The Mayor of Rio Rancho will present a plaque from the New Mexico Parks and Recreation Association to the CE499 students who helped design a park, 2 p.m., EECE, 277-5539.

Panel Discussion: “Discovering Islam: An American Experience,” individuals from traditional Western cultural backgrounds will share their experiences of personal transformation and discovery of Islamic traditions,” 7 p.m., Maxwell Museum, 277-5963.

Performance: UNM Orchestra with Jorge Pérez-Goméz, director, featuring music from Spain and Latin American in a Christmas Celebration, 7:30 p.m., Popejoy Hall, 277-2131.

Wednesday, Dec. 5
Holiday Traditions Open House: Information displays about Hanukkah, Ramadan, Las Posadas, Winter Soltice, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Midwinter Festivals and more, noon - 3 p.m., Student Health Center, 277-4468.

Cuban Folklore Music and Dance: Omo Oddara, an Afro-Cuban music and dance ensemble will perform from 3-4 p.m., Clark Hall Room 101, 277-6847.

Performance: UNM Concert Band, 7:30 p.m., Keller Hall, 277-2131.

Friday - Sunday, Dec. 7 - 9
Performance: “Nutcracker on the Rocks,” 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 9, Rodey Theater, 277-2131.
