CAMPANA TO CHAIR GROUND WATER SCIENTIST/ENGINEER GROUP
Dr. Michael E. Campana, University of New Mexico professor of Earth and Planetary
Sciences and director of the UNM Water Resources Program, will be named to serve
a two-year term as chair of the 12,000-member Association of Ground Water Scientists
and Engineers (AGWSE), the largest such organization in the world, at its annual
meeting in Nashville Dec. 7-9.
Campana is concluding terms as associate editor and book editor of the association's
flagship journal, the Journal of Ground Water. He also serves on the board of
directors of the 16,000-member parent organization, the National Ground Water
Association - unique because its members represent all aspects of the ground
water industry - scientists, engineers, well drillers, equipment manufacturers
and suppliers.
"I'm honored to serve as the AGWSE Chair and look forward to serving the
entire NGWA as a member of its board," Campana said. "NGWA is quite
an organization. I am anxious to work with all members to have our viewpoints
represented in Washington and to increase international activities and membership"
Campana is also on the boards of the Universities Council on Water Resources and the American Institute of Hydrology.
