UNM students win Regional Showcase Award

Three University of New Mexico students recently received a regional showcase award at the 2001 National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) Region III Conference in Denver, Colo. Approximately 226 individuals participated in the program representing 15 schools from four states.

UNM students receiving the award were Amy Wendt, from Marshall, Mich., Sarah Bullard, from Edgewood, N.M., and Nissane Black, from Albuquerque, N.M.

The students presented “Motivation in a Can,” a program offering both direct and indirect methods and ideas to stay motivated and to keep orientation programs exciting.

Laura Valdez, manager of new student orientation at UNM, said various members, from students to directors present conference workshops and which ever receives the highest composite conference evaluation wins a regional showcase award.
As a result of the regional winning, the students will present this workshop at the NODA Conference in Toronto, Canada, Nov. 3-6.
