ANDERSON SCHOOLS EXECUTIVE SPEAKERS SERIES CONTINUES AT UNM
The UNM Anderson Schools of Management (ASM) is opening its classrooms to the
public on two occasions during the month of February as part of its Executive
Speakers Series. The second guest lecturer in the series is Al Romig, Vice President
for Science, Technology and Components and Chief Technology Officer at Sandia
National Laboratories.
Romig will speak on Monday, Feb. 19, from 4-6:30 p.m., in the first-time class
offering of Professor Suleiman Kassiciehs exploration of economic development
issues in the state. Romig will address how technology transfer initiatives
from the national laboratories directly and indirectly affect the economic development
in New Mexico. The class will be in the Graduate School of Management Building,
room 232.
On Thursday, Feb. 22, from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m., Deane Waldman, MD/MBA, of the
Childrens Hospital of New Mexico will lecture to The Anderson Schools
seminar on quality management. Waldman is currently conducting research on the
culture of medicine and how that culture impacts the delivery of healthcare.
His work is a direct reflection on issues of quality, said Professor
Steven Yourstone, who teaches the course on quality management. He will
bring a dynamic perspective thats applicable to any organization.
Waldmans lecture will be in ASM, room 1064.
The emphasis on the Executive Speakers Series is to share information and resources
with the business community. Faculty will be opening their classrooms across
the disciplines that make up the business education at The Anderson Schools
to guest lecturers to the community for a no-cost learning experience.
The Executive Speakers Series is an important way for us to share the
resources of The Anderson Schools with business leaders in the community interested
in staying in touch with the latest issues, said Howard L. Smith, dean
of the ASM. We had great success with our first open event, featuring
Secretary of Economic Development John Garcia, and we are looking forward to
this months offerings.
