Texas Tech Tax Expert Visits UNM To Talk About "Stock Market Capitalization of Dividend Taxes"
Dr. Robert Ricketts, a tax expert from Texas Tech University, will speak at the Anderson Schools of Management (ASM) at UNM on “Stock Market Capitalization of Dividend Taxes: Does the Market Assume All Earnings Will Be Paid Out as Dividends?” The talk is scheduled for Friday, March 1 at 1 p.m. in room 2082 at ASM located at 1924 Las Lomas N.W.
Recent research has hypothesized that the stock market capitalizes future dividend taxes into share prices regardless of firms’ actual dividend policies. Ricketts will address this issue and many others during his presentation. The Pulakos & Alongi Visiting Scholar Program will host the event.
Ricketts, a certified public accountant, holds a Ph.D., MS, and BS from the University of North Texas and is the Frank M. Burke Chair in Taxation in the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration at Texas Tech University. He is also the director of the Texas Tech Tax Institute.
The event is free and open to the public. Ricketts will not field any general questions about taxes as the topic and discussion is academic in nature. For more information, call 277-1890 or e-mail Heather Harwick at harwick@mgt.unm.edu.
