UNM HOSTS ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGIONAL ADVISING CONFERENCE
The University of New Mexico is the host institution for the Rocky Mountain
Region of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) conference set
for March 6-8 at the Double Tree Hotel in Albuquerque.
The conference, planned for academic advisors and anyone interested in academic
advising in higher education, will include four pre-conference workshops on
Thursday morning, March 7, and twenty-four concurrent sessions of wide-ranging
topics scheduled throughout Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8.
The president of the national NACADA, Betsy McCalla-Wriggins of Rowan University
in New Jersey, will be a featured guest.
NACADA encompasses the states of N.M., Ariz., Color., Utah, and Wyo. NACADA
has been in existence since 1977 and has more than 6,300 members representing
all 50 states, Canada, Puerto Rico and five other foreign countries. Members
represent higher education institutions across the spectrum of college classifications
and include professional advisors/counselors, faculty, administrators and students
whose responsibilities include academic advising.
Registration fee is $120 for NACADA members and $170 for non-members which
includes a one-year membership to the organization. The fee includes attendance
at all sessions, breakfasts, lunches and a reception.
