New Mexico Governor Gary E. Johnson has announced the appointments of two new University of New Mexico Board of Regents. They are Eric Anaya and Sandra K. Begay-Campbell. The New Mexico Legislature will have final approval of the appointments.

Eric Anaya Sandra K. Begay-Campbell Anaya has been appointed as student regent to the UNM Board of Regents. He is a native of Moriarty and is a student in the School of Law at UNM. He served as president of the Associated Students of UNM in 1999-2000 and he also served on the Commission on Higher Education during that time. He is an accomplished practitioner of karate and kickboxing and has taught self-defense to children and adults of all ages. Anaya replaces Jason Bousliman for the student regent position. Bousliman’s term expired Dec. 31, 2000. Anaya’s term expires Dec. 31, 2002.

Begay-Campbell is a Gallup-area native and Sandia National Laboratories technical staff employee. She attended the UNM Gallup branch campus for two years before transferring to main campus to complete her civil engineering degree. She holds a master’s degree in structural engineering from Stanford University. She replaces Mary Tang whose term expired Jan. 1. Begay-Campbell’s term expires Dec. 31, 2006.
