SANTA FE NATIVE INDUCTED INTO ARCHITECTURE HONOR SOCIETY

Santa Fe native Amber Walbridge, graduate student in the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning, was one of six graduate and 10 undergraduate students inducted as charter members of the UNM chapter of Tau Sigma Delta National Honor Society, the only honor society recognized in the fields of architecture and the allied arts, announced Dean Roger Schluntz.

Allied arts, in UNM's case, includes landscape architecture and community and regional planning.

Walbridge, daughter of Clif Walbridge and Mara Renninger, is a 1995 graduate of Santa Fe High School. She plans to graduate from UNM in May, continue working in the field and earn a master's in architecture.

"I feel very honored to have my hard work and academic achievements recognized by Tau Sigma Delta and the UNM School of Architecture and Planning," she says.

Tau Sigma Delta, founded in 1913 at the University of Michigan, is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, giving Tau Sigma Delta the high rating of most distinguished honor societies in other educational fields.

Students inducted are in the top 20 percent of their class.

Other graduate students admitted to the UNM chapter, Gamma Lambda, were:

· Robert Baca
· Parker Berg
· Mark Harvold
· Shelley Maynard
· Steven McCaslin

All hold BAs in Architecture except Baca, who earned a BA in Environmental Design.

The following undergraduate students were also admitted:

· Shawn Anderson
· Sonia Archuleta
· James Cooke
· Nasima Hadi
· Margaret Hirsch
· Laura Kuenn
· Karole Mazeika
· Catherine Moody
· Daniel Puzak
· Rossana Ramirez Robertson

Faculty attending the ceremony included Schluntz, Provost Brian Foster, Alf Simon, director, landscape architecture; Andy Pressman, director, architecture; David Henkel, director, community and regional planning; and Stephen Dent, associate professor, architecture, and Tau Sigma Delta member.
