July 22, 2002 UNM assistant professor receives research enhancement
award to study carrier dynamics in quantum dots Sanjay Krishna, University of New Mexico Electrical and Computer Engineering
assistant professor, has received a Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from
Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) for the 2002-2003 academic year. Krishna said the award provides encouragement which is extremely vital for young faculty beginning their career. Many times young faculty members need a token of appreciation by their peers, he said. This award is one such act of recognition. He said the proposal for the award was reviewed by three to four external peers and was encouraged to see good reviews about the proposal from various scientists who he hasnt met. Moreover, there is a lot to be learned from their comments which can be incorporated into my learning curve, he said. Krishna, also affiliated with the Center of High Tech Materials (CHTM), received his PhD in applied physics in May 2001 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research interests include growth, fabrication and characterization of self-organized quantum dots for interband lasers and intersubband detectors. ORAU plans to offer the Junior Faculty Enhancement Award program again for the 2003-2004 academic year. Faculty members at ORAU member institutions who are within three years of their initial tenure-track appointments as assistant professors are eligible for award. ### |
