ANDERSON SCHOOLS PROFESSOR RECEIVES NATIONAL APPOINTMENT

Laurie Schatzberg, associate professor of Management Information Systems at The Anderson Schools of Management (ASM) at the University of New Mexico, has been appointed to the Information Technology Committee for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF).

The committee develops policies and provides general guidelines and oversight related to the JDRF presence on the internet, including policies related to communications involving JDRF headquarters, chapters and affiliates, and communications among JDRF and its various internet constituencies.

Schatzberg, who has been a faculty member at ASM since 1991, teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in object-oriented analysis and design and project management.

“I’m thrilled by this opportunity to contribute to JDRF through this volunteer position by providing guidance on the use of information technologies to advance the foundation’s goals,” said Schatzberg.

“Whether facilitating the dissemination of research or communication among JDRF constituencies, information technology can be used in ways to ensure that every possible dollar goes to finding cures for diabetes and its complications.”

Schatzberg was nominated to the committee by Doris Rhodes.

Founded in 1970, JDRF is the world’s leading nonprofit, nongovernmental funder of diabetes research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
