UNM Tamarind Institute hosts eight for summer workshop

The University of New Mexico Tamarind Institute will host six individuals from across the country, and two from Mexico and Chile in its 2002 summer workshop July 8-Aug. 8.

Marjorie Devon, director of the Tamarind Institute, said Tamarind is the only place in the world that offers advanced training in the art of lithography.

“The goal of the workshop is to help the eight individuals to learn more about advanced lithographic technique,” Devon said. “And in return they can take what they learn back to their respective areas and teach others what they have learned.”

Tamarind Institute is a center for fine art lithography that trains master printers, engages in teaching and research, and houses a professional collaborative studio for artists. Tamarind is recognized internationally for its contributions to the growth of contemporary printmaking around the world.
