UNM'S CENTER FOR SOUTHWEST RESEARCH OFFERS FELLOWS PRESENTATIONS
April programs the largest showcase of student fellowship research

The University of New Mexico General Library's Center for Southwest Research (CSWR) presents, "Archiving the Paper Trail," a free public lecture series on various center collections, to be held in Zimmerman Library's Willard Reading Room in April.

Nine UNM graduate fellows, the greatest concentration on campus, have worked on CSWR archival collections throughout the academic year. They will share their insights on the nature and use of these collections that support a wide range of research interests including Southwest architecture, photography, music, grassroots activism, labor history, Native American studies, Navajo language, Spanish colonial-period history and Latin American political history.

"Indian Affairs Online," Susan Ruth, M.S., Anthropology; and "Using the Archivo General de Indias Collection to Study Colonial Mexican and New Mexican History," Gary Van Valen, Ph.D. candidate, History.

FRIDAY, APRIL 12, 1 P.M.
"Citizens for Alternatives to Radioactive Dumping (CARD): A Quarter Century of Resistance," Maria Santelli, graduate student, Community and Regional Planning;

"Dine bizaad doo baa hane': Navajo Language and History in the Robert W. Young Papers," Jay Scott Williams, PhD candidate, Linguistics; and "The Music of John Donald Robb," Joy Zalkind, graduate student, Music.

THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 11 A.M.
"The John Gaw Meem Archives of Southwestern Architecture: An Orientation,"
Joanne Eekhoff, graduate student, School of Architecture & Planning; and "The John Gaw Meem Photoarchive," Mike Shively, graduate student, School of Architecture & Planning.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24, 1 P.M.
"Taking Issue: The Sam L. Slick Collection of Latin American & Iberian Posters," Teresa Eckmann, PhD Candidate, Latin American and Iberian Institute; and "The Alfredo Chavez Montoya Papers: A Window on the Labor Movement in the Southwest," F. Scott Worman, M.S., Anthropology.
Funding for CSWR fellowships is provided by the UNM Center for Regional Studies, with additional funding by the John Donald Robb Musical Trust for the Robb fellowship.
