The Rehoboth Christian High School Junior Varsity team took first place
in the national JETS (Junior Engineering & Technical Society)/TEAMS (Test
of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) competition, held locally
in Albuquerque, New Mexico recently.
The Rehoboth Junior Varsity A team took first place in Division 1 during
the national contest .
Of the New Mexico teams that were advanced to Nationals following the recent
competition, these are the standings for other teams from the area that competed
in the locally held event: Rehoboth Christian Jr. Varsity A Team was first
out of 10 teams, the Rehoboth Christian Varsity Team was fifth out of 17 and
the La Cueva Jr, Varsity A Team was seventh out of 17.
The JETS/TEAMS competition is an annual interscholastic competition that helps
prepare students for tomorrow's real world problems. The students are asked
to solve problems which require a broad base of knowledge. An example of such
a question
would be: How do you restore operations to a flooded coal mine? The program
encourages team work and learning strategy through such questions and competition
The TEAMS program is sponsored locally by the University of New Mexico School
of Engineering in Albuquerque.
