GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT UNM PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The University of New Mexico’s Presidential Scholarship Program celebrates its 20th annual golf tournament fundraiser on Friday, June 21, at the Championship Golf Course at UNM. This year’s tournament, informally known as “the tournament that Larry Ahrens built,” is sponsored by Bank of America and Citadel Southwest Radio.

The tournament is the UNM’s biggest one-day fundraiser and has raised more than $750,000 for the scholarship program to date.

Players may register individually for $125; teams of four, for $500. Registration includes greens fees, cart, range balls, drinks and snacks. Players also enjoy a complimentary breakfast, lunch, awards dinner and the opportunity to win team prizes and door prizes. The tournament is a four-person, red-white-blue scramble with morning and afternoon flights. Shotgun starts are at 7:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Individuals and organizations can become sponsors and receive valuable recognition by making gifts of $250 or more.

The Presidential Scholarship Program has been attracting New Mexico’s best and brightest young people to UNM for more than 25 years. The program currently provides full scholarships at UNM to more than 400 of the state’s top students.
