Clovis A. Acosta has been named director of the University of New Mexico's Parking and Transportation Services, effective immediately, announced Dupuy Bateman, UNM associate vice president for Auxiliary Enterprises.

Acosta will plan and implement parking services operations including parking enforcement, maintenance of parking facilities, the allocation of parking areas and special events transportation services.

Acosta has been acting director since July 2000. His experience includes employee, community and customer relations and management of organizations with budgets up to $4.5 million. He served as UNM fleet manager, April 1998 -'00, and as City of Albuquerque fleet manager, 1982-'88. He worked as a consultant for New Mexico Energy Consultants, 1992-'98, and International Training Corp, 1988-'92. From 1977-'82, he was an instructor with Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute. He has a bachelor of university studies from UNM with an emphasis in adult education.

"Mr. Acosta's demonstrated leadership skills combined with his enthusiasm and energy make him a perfect match for this position," Bateman said.

The director for UNM Parking and Transportation Services works under general supervision of the associate vice president for Auxiliary Enterprises reporting to the UNM vice president for business and finance.
