SPEAKER HIGHLIGHTS SECOND ANNUAL UP-AND-COMERS AWARDS LUNCHEON

Forty outstanding individuals from across the state will be honored at the second annual Up-and-Comers luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Pyramid – Albuquerque.

The keynote speaker at this year’s event will be Steve Wells, President of Los Alamos National Bank. Wells was selected to address this year’s class of winners for his commitment to quality – demonstrated by the fact that LANB was the first New Mexico corporation and first bank in the nation to be awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2000. Wells began his banking career 22 years ago and has been with Los Alamos National Bank since 1985. He received a BS in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University and is a graduate of the Western States School of Banking, where he is a faculty member teaching Technology Management.

KRQE’s Dick Knipfing will serve as the emcee for the Up-and-Comer Awards Luncheon, which will recognize young New Mexicans from nine communities and 16 industry sectors. A complete list of this year’s honorees can be found at: visit www.mgt.unm.edu/do. The program is being sponsored with underwriting gifts from Wells Fargo Bank, Andersen, and Charter Companies. Media sponsors for the program include KRQE and KUNM. Additional support has been provided by Quality New Mexico and CenturyPlus.

Tickets for the luncheon are $50 per person, or $400 for corporate tables of 8. For reservations, please call 505-277-0880 or e-mail mchale@mgt.unm.edu.
