Originally in private practice, Jewell began working with Legal Aid Society to recruit lawyers for pro bono work with domestic violence victims. She then became special commissioner with the Domestic Violence Division of the Second Judicial District Court. Jewell trains numerous groups within the city about domestic violence issues including the Albuquerque Police Department, Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, Southwest Indian Law Clinic, the Neutral Corner and UNM Emergency Medicine residents. Jewell is a member of Albuquerque’s Domestic Violence Task Force Committee, Public Safety Advisory Board and numerous other related organizations.
