OPEN FORUMS SET FOR UNM PARKING SERVICES DIRECTOR
Open forums have been scheduled for five finalists for the position of University
of New Mexico Director of Parking and Transportation.
The candidates' open forums will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Mitchell
Hall, room 205 as follows:
· Vanessa Cummings, assistant director of parking, Miami University
Department of Public Safety, Oxford, Ohio, Oct. 17.
· Scott Fox, assistant director of Transportation and Parking Services,
University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla., Oct. 19
· Lance Lunsway, parking and transportation manager, Arizona State University,
Phoenix, Ariz., Oct. 24
· Clovis Acosta, acting director, Parking and Transportation services,
University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, N.M., Oct. 26.
A former Ohio peace officer, Cummings' seven years of parking experience includes
managing personnel and parking software and providing technical support. She
has been with the Miami University Department of Public Safety as director of
parking since April 2000 and assistant director of public safety, 1994-'00.
She worked for the Butler County Children Services Board, 1990-'94, and Village
Building Services, 1989. From 1986-'89 she was with the City of Tuscaloosa police
department. Cummings has a BS in psychology from the University of Alabama.
Fox has more than 17 years in the parking industry with experience in a university
environment at the University of Florida since 1998. His experience includes
program development and fiscal management. From 1995-'97 he was vice president
for Century Parking, Inc., in Arlington VA., and served as operations manager,
1995. From 1991-'95, he was general manager for West Windsor Parking Authority,
Princeton, N.J. He served as senior operations planner for the Southeastern
Pennsylvania Transportation Authority in Philadelphia, Pa., from 1988-'91, and
manager of parking lot operations, 1984-'88. He has a BA in English from Muhlenberg
College, Allentown, Pa.
Lunsway has a foundation in business administration, public relations and parking
and transportation research. He has been manager of Parking and Transportation
Services at Arizona State University since 1997. He served as operations manager
for Kansas State University Parking Services from 1991-'97 and parking control
officer, 1990-'91. He has also worked as a firefighter and for the United Parcel
Service. He has a BS in psychology from Kansas State University.
Acosta has served as acting director of UNM Parking and Transportation Services
since July 2000. His experience includes employee, community and customer relations
and management of organizations with budgets up to $4.5 million. Previously
he served as UNM fleet manager, April 1998 -'00, and as fleet manager for the
City of Albuquerque, 1982-'88. Acosta worked as a consultant for New Mexico
Energy Consultants, 1992-'98, and International Training Corp, 1988-'92. From
1977-'82, he was an instructor with Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute.
He has a BUS from the University of New Mexico with an emphasis in adult education.
The director for UNM Parking and Transportation Services works under general
supervision of the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Enterprises reporting
to the UNM Vice President for Business and Finance.
