UNM'S HARRISON PUBLISHES ACCOUNT OF GORE ENCOUNTER
A proud moment in Irvin Harrison's life came when he got to introduce then-Vice
President Al Gore when he visited the University of New Mexico (UNM) campus.
He recently experienced another moment of pride when Harrison saw the article
he wrote about his experience published as the lead story in "Concepts,"
the publication of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
Harrison, a Farmington High School graduate, graduated magna cum laude from
UNM this spring with a degree in English, focusing on professional writing.
A Navajo, he is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies.
He also received the Clauve Outstanding Senior Award and served as the keynote
speaker at a Farmington High School banquet for graduating Native American students.
"It's my first professionally published piece," said Harrison. The
article includes a striking photo of Harrison shaking hands with Gore. Harrison
is currently working on special projects for the UNM Alumni Relations Office
and plans to pursue a graduate degree in Communications at San Diego State University
in the spring.
"Concepts," published annually, represents the best of Golden Key's
lifetime members, chapter activities, honorary members and feature stories.
