ALBUQUERQUE-AREA RESIDENTS RECEIVE FORD MOTOR COMPANY MINORITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Several Albuquerque-area residents received scholarships from the Ford Motor
Company as part of Fords three-year commitment to the University of New
Mexico for the 2000-2001 academic year. The scholarship winners are from UNMs
Anderson Schools of Management.
The MBA scholarship recipients are Nancy Abeyta, Beatriz Bailey, Pacifica Casares,
Ken Gonzales, Leroy Llamas and Wesley Platero.
The BBA scholarship recipients are Kristi Crawford, Diego Esquibel, Scott Lopez,
Olivia Ortega, Susana Sarmiento, Sophia Strathdee, Monica Tolbert and Hui Zhuang.
The Ford scholarships are designed to support and encourage minority students
in business programs. Graduate winners received $5,000 scholarships, while undergraduate
student winners received $3,000 scholarships.
Among the undergraduate scholarships, 70 percent were awarded to women, 50
percent to Hispanics, 20 percent of Native Americans, and 10 percent to Asian-Americans.
Among graduate scholarships, 62 percent went to women, 50 percent to Hispanics,
and 12 percent to Native Americans.
