ANDERSON SCHOOLS OF MANAGEMENT UP-AND-COMERS AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The Anderson Schools of Management at the University of New Mexico has announced
the recipients of the first-ever Up-and-Comers awards. A luncheon honoring the
recipients will be held Tuesday, November 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel
and Convention Center in Albuquerque.
John Richardson, Minister and Deputy Head of Delegation for the European Union,
will be the featured speaker. His topic will be the European Dilemma:
Encouraging Innovation on a Continent with 2000 Years of Tradition. Richardsons
comments will engage the New Mexico audience on how our traditions can interplay
with the demands of the global economy.
The Up-and-Comers Awards honor outstanding people in business throughout the
state of New Mexico who are demonstrating excellence in their profession and
community service activities. More than 130 talented people were nominated for
the awards, with 36 honorees chosen for the recognition. The initial class of
Up-and-Comers has an average age of 37, represents seven New Mexico communities
and a wide range of professions.
The honorees include:
Jeffrey Armijo, President of Paradise Travel, Inc. in Socorro. Armijo is active in the Socorro Lions Club and sponsored the Commission on the Status of Women Conference in Socorro in 1998.
MaryAnn R. Baker-Randall, Attorney with Baker, Randall & Associates, PC in Albuquerque. Baker- Randall is on the Board of the New Mexico Womens Bar Association and volunteers with the Adaptive Ski Program at Sandia Peak.
Curt J. C.J. Chavez, President of G-Katmar Inc., in Albuquerque. Chavez also teaches martial arts and volunteers his skills to work with underprivileged youth.
Joan Coff, MD, Chiropractic Doctor at Blue Dolphin Chiropractic/Albuquerque
Chiropractic. Coff is involved with the Professional Womens Golf Club,
a businesswomens professional group that supports womens activities.
Perry L. Denker, Vice President of the Albuquerque Economic Development, Inc. Denker has helped to bring 2,100 new jobs and $330 million capital investment to the Albuquerque-area.
Gary A. Escudero, MD, Director of Clinical and Medical Affairs at the Gallup Indian Medical Center. Escudero has served in this position for 14 years and mentors young medical students.
James E. Fuller, State Outreach Director/Executive Director of the Pete Domenici/Bush-Cheney 2000 Inc. Fuller works with many civic and community organizations and helped pass the New Mexico Mental Health Parity Act through the state legislature.
Tom Garrity, President of The Garrity Group Public Relations in Albuquerque. Garrity serves on the Executive Committee of the United Way of Central New Mexico and is current President of the Public Relations Society of America, New Mexico Chapter.
Charlene S. Golden, Academic Administrator at the College of Education at UNM. Golden is a Victims Advocate for the Domestic Violence Program with the Albuquerque Police Department and serves on the Board of the Equal Employment and Opportunity Council.
Daniel G. Gutierrez, Director of Economic Development for Bernalillo County. Gutierrez has been active in politics and government in the Albuquerque-area for many years and in many capacities.
Robert Gerard Heiser, Principal/Vice President of DCSW, Inc. in Albuquerque.
Heiser is the Vice Chair of Environmental of the Environmental Planning Commis-
sion for the City of Albuquerque.
Christopher W. Hickman, Director of Technology and Innovation at PNM
in Albuquerque. Hickman recently won the Walter Fee Outstanding Young Engineer
of the Year Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
He is active in a variety of community activities.
John H. Hooker, Architect with Hooker & Hooker Architects in Los
Ranchos de
Albuquerque. Hooker is also the Mayor of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque and is designing
the new Explora Science Center and Childrens Mu- seum.
Erik Lohmeier, Vice President, Group Account Director for Rick Johnson & Company Advertising in Albuquerque. Lohmeier serves on the Board of the New Mexico Zoological Society and is a member of the Active 20/30 club.
Joseph M. Lujan, Vice President for Personal Lines at Manuel Lujan Insurance,
Inc. in Albuquerque. Lujan serves on the Board of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber
of Commerce and is active in coaching youth sports.
Beverlee J. McClure, President of Clovis Community College in Clovis, N.M. McClure has promoted economic development in Clovis helping to attract 500 new jobs and $20 million to the community.
Steve McKee, President of McKee Wallwork Henderson Advertising in Albuquerque. McKee serves on the Board of the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation and teaches marriage preparation classes through Calvary of Albuquer- que.
Gabriel Merced Parra, Attorney with Sutin, Thayer & Browne in Albuquerque, Parra is active in the American Red Cross Speakers Bureau and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central New Mexico.
Roxanna Meyers, President of CenturyPlus in Albuquerque. Formerly President of Com- mercial Lending at Wells Fargo New Mexico. Meyers is also active locally in youth activities and the search for a cure for cancer.
Jackie Kerby Moore, Manager of Sandia Science & Technology Park in Albuquerque. Moore is active with the United Way and Camp Fire Boys and Girls locally.
John Oliver, Chairman/Founder of Menla Corporation in Albuquerque. Through Menla, Oliver works to create a worldwide community of and for people with special needs including the disabled, chronically ill, their caregivers and healthcare professionals.
Jerry Pacheco, President/CEO of Global Perspectives Integrated, LLC in Santa Teresa, N.M. Pacheco works with youth organizations throughout the state and is active in increasing New Mexicos international presence.
Edward Pulsifer, Vice President of Convention Sales and Marketing for the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Pulsifer volunteers with the Albuquerque Womens Resource Center and the New Day Shelters.
John R. Ransom, Real estate advisor with Grubb & Ellis/Lewinger Hamilton, Inc. in Albuquerque. Ransom is also a trustee of All Faiths Receiving Home.
Kevin L. Reid, President/Owner of Reid & Associates in Rio Rancho. Reid is active in Rotary International and was selected as Rotarian of the Year by the Rio Rancho Rotary Club.
Curt J. Richter, Jr., Owner/President of Imaging Concepts of New Mexico, Inc. in Albuquerque. Richter also sponsors a business forum at his facility every year.
Joan L. Rosley-Griffin, President of Griffin & Associates in Albuquerque. Rosley-Griffin is the president of the New Mexico Advertising Federation.
Lorin Saint Erramouspe, President/Dance Educator of Dance Alegre! in Albuquerque. Erramouspe helped build the State Department of Educations Arts Standards, Benchmarks and Performance Standards curriculum work, helping to improve the level of arts education statewide.
J. Brad Steward, Director of Finance for SVS, Inc. in Albuquerque. Steward is active in Youth Sports and helped pass the Technology Jobs Tax Credit in New Mexico.
Lynn Trojahn, Director of Advancement at the Bosque Preparatory School in Albuquer- que. Trojahn is President of the New Mexico Society of Fundraising Executives and is the chair of the Kiwanis Children Priority One committee.
Jennifer M. Van Drunen, President of Interactive Solutions in Albuquerque. Van Drunen is active in fundraising for the National Association of Women Business Owners Camp $tart-up, which helps teach young women their own potential in business.
Darin Keith Wade, Commercial Sales/Leasing Director at Richardson Ford Sales in Albuquerque. Wade is also active in a number of musical activities as well as serving on the Ford Motor Credit/Ford Motor Company Internet Expert Panel.
Maureen M. Walter, Principal at BPLW Architects & Engineers, Inc. in Albuquerque. Walter is currently active with creating new dorms on UNMs main campus, renovating the Henry C. Trosts YMCA building at New Mexico State University, and creating a downtown parking structure in Albuquerque.
Helen J. Wertheim, President/COO of Charter Insurance Services, Inc. in Albuquerque. Wertheim is Board President of the YWCA of the Middle Rio Grande and is also a board member at the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
Heather Wilson, Congresswoman in the U.S. House of Representatives. Wilson has represented New Mexico in Congress since 1998, serving on the Com- merce Committee, the House Permanent Select Committee on intelli- gence, and the House Republican Policy committee.
Lisa Kaplan Witt, President of Avista Video histories in Albuquerque,
where she records the stories of senior citizens for posterity. She compliments
this by volunteering with the Senior Foundation, a nonprofit agency that helps
seniors in need.
The program is being sponsored by Arthur Andersen and Wells Fargo Bank. The
New Mexico Business Weekly is the media sponsor for the event. Tickets for the
