Trips

Every semester, The Office of International Programs and Studies organizes trips to give students an opportunity to explore New Mexico and the other states in the US. Here are some of the exciting places we have visited!

Wolf Creek Ski Trip

February 24th – 26th, 2012 at Pagosa Springs, CO

Taos Labor Day Trip
This trip is one of our most popular. Every year the Office of International Programs and Studies takes a bus to explore the wonders of northern New Mexico. We start off with a brief tour of the historical part of Santa Fe, and then head north to the Rio Grande Gorge. We stay two nights in a cozy hostel in Arroyo Seco, a small town near Taos, NM. On Sunday, we spend the day hiking around in the Carson National Forest. Our traditional hike starts at the bottom of the Taos Ski Valley and ends at Williams Lake (some 1000ft higher). Some students hike to the top of the Wheeler Peak, the tallest mountain in New Mexico. The last day, we visit the Taos Pueblo, an indigenous village near Taos and then head back home!

Wolf Creek Ski Trip, Pagosa Springs, Colorado
Our annual ski trip to Wolf Creek Ski resort in Colorado is a weekend full of fun and winter sports! We stay in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and visit the famous hot springs after a full day of skiing/snowboarding.

Santa Fe, New Mexico
Our trip to Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico, is a popular one-day outing. We take students for a ride on the famous Rail Runner train and show them the beauties of Santa Fe, such as the San Miguel mission, historic Old Town, the quaint Santa Fe Plaza, and the Palace of the Governor. We grab lunch in Santa Fe and head back to Albuquerque in the evening.

Sandia Peak
At the beginning of the fall semester we take the longest tramway in the world to the top of the Sandia Peak. We do a short hike along the ridge which offers some of the best views of Albuquerque and the desert that extends far beyond the city. We watch the beautiful New Mexican sunset and take the tramway back to Albuquerque.

Fall Break Trips
Past Fall Break trips include various southwest adventures, such as a trip to South Colorado and Denver, southern New Mexico, Grand Canyon, and others.
