Dr. George T. Wang

Sandia National Laboratories

George T. Wang joined Sandia National Laboratories in 2002, and is currently a Senior Member of the Technical Staff in the Advanced Materials Sciences Department. Dr. Wang received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, with Highest Honors, from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University in 1999 and 2002, respectively, where he was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship and the David Sen-Lin Lee Fellowship. His thesis work at Stanford University focused on the investigation of organic reactions on clean semiconductor surfaces under ultra-high vacuum using experimental and theoretical techniques. At Sandia, Dr. Wang's recent research has focused on the synthesis and characterization of III-nitride nanowires and heterostructure nanowires by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. He has also been involved in the study of parasitic chemistry and Mg doping issues in AlGaInN MOCVD. Dr. Wang has also been responsible for the design and purchase of a custom, state-of-the-art $3.0M nanofabrication and characterization system, which he will become the owner of. This world-class system, which is expected to come online in 2006 at Sandia's new MESA facility, will significantly bolster Sandia's nanoresearch capabilities.
