Graduate studies in Classics is available as one of the concentrations under the MA in Comparative Literature & Cultural Studies. Students take advanced courses in Latin and/or Ancient Greek, and also have the opportunity to explore other aspects of the classical world through classes in Archaeology, Art History, English, History, Philosophy, and the Institute for Medieval Studies.
Our program in Classics aims to produce students who not only have a proficiency in the ancient languages, but also have a broader understanding of the ancient world, including contemporary approaches to the Classics. Many of our students continue their studies at well-known programs, while some obtain teaching positions at the secondary level. Recent graduates have gone on to prestigious Ph.D. programs, including the University of Colorado and UCLA, while others have found teaching jobs at private schools in California and here in Albuquerque.
