ABOUT ISI
The
International Studies Institute (ISI) is an umbrella
organization for the three area studies undergraduate
programs in the College of Arts and Sciences at the
University of New Mexico-- European Studies, Asian Studies
(including the Middle East), and Russian Studies. The goal
of the Institute is to pursue more broad-based initiatives
which involve all three subgroups such as coordinating
lecture series, outreach to secondary schools, and the
writing of larger grants for international or
interdisciplinary study, research, and outreach programs.
Our
primary goal as an institute which serves undergraduates and
the associated faculty of each program is to provide greater
opportunities for the dissemination of knowledge about all
parts of the world on the UNM campus and throughout the
state. In addition, we will coordinate with the region's
National Resource Centers for Area Studies in order to
provide easier access to their resources, especially in the
area of secondary and primary school outreach and their
expert faculty.
The
ISI seeks to attract faculty with international experience,
and develop relationships with local, regional, and global
communities by supporting faculty and student exchange
programs to all parts of the world.
