A recent graduate of UNM's school of Nuclear Engineering, Tai Pham, had begun work toward his Ph.D., researching additional properties of carbon nanotubes, with an eye on potential use of these tubes as a lightweight shielding material for space applications.

Education: B.S. Nuclear Engineering, UNM, 2005.

Research Projects: While the structure of carbon nanotubes has aroused great interest in the research community of exotic electronics, other remarkable properties of the nanotubes may provide additional practical uses in the future. The high carbon and hydrogen contents of these nanotubes show promise as a lightweight shielding material for space applications.
