Manuscript Preparation and Review Process
Once your initial abstract is accepted into one of STAIF's five conferences and symposia, it will be time to prepare your manuscript for the editors' initial review. Use this page as the jumping off point for the resources needed to format your paper and final abstract for review by the editors, as well as the paperwork necessary for publication.
STAIF/AIP Style Guide
Not certain how to format your paper to our publisher's guidelines? STAIF's comprehensive Style Guide is available in PDF and HTML formats.
How Does the Manuscript Submission and
Review Process Work?
Initial drafts are due August 1, 2007, with the ideal manuscript length being 8 pages in MS Word. Upon submission, your manuscript will be reviewed by a team of editors which includes a combination of STAIF's Technical and Publications Chair, the conference proceedings formatting editors, conference and session chairs, and peer review.
Once this initial review is completed, authors are notified of one of three decisions:
- Manuscript accepted with only minor changes necessary. Author receives request for camera ready copy.
- Manuscript requires further work to meet STAIF publication standards. Author receives request for a re-review to determine if manuscript will be accepted into the proceedings after changes are made. If revised manuscript is approved by editors, author will then receive a request for camera ready copy.
- Manuscript rejected. Rejection does not automatically mean that a paper is lacking in quality. It may simply be that the subject matter isn't right for STAIF.
Final, camera-ready manuscripts are due no later than October 1, 2007.
Email submissions sent to isnps@unm.edu in PDF or Word 2003 or below are prefered.
Templates
It's much easier to format your final abstract and paper if you start with the templates provided in MS Word on the Templates Page.
Forms
As part of the manuscript process, all authors will need to fill out at least some of the forms found on the Forms and Guides page. Every author is required to complete Registration, Transfer of Copyright, and Bio Submission forms, but Final Page Charges and other crucial forms are found here, too.
