Mission: The mission of the Special Office for Latin American Initiatives (SOLAI) is to establish bridges and networks to provide educational and professional opportunities for students, faculty, and administrators from Latin American higher education and governmental institutions at The University of New Mexico (UNM).

Purpose: The purpose is to recruit students for our Latin American Outreach Programs at UNM --Intensive English and Cultural Program; Academic Development Program; and Professional Practice Program-- and also for our professional and academic non-degree short bridge seminars programs at UNM.

Vision: SOLAI promotes innovative institutional policies to offer opportunities for Latin American students, faculty and administrators who work at public institutions of higher education, or governmental agencies, who desire to establish connections with UNM through strategic bridge programs.

Values:Trust, and certainty are the guiding principles of SOLAI. Through these, we promote the institutional values at UNM, such as: academic freedom; diversity; initiative and creativity; excellence; integrity and professionalism; and access and success for the students.
