American
Artichoke Cafe ($$$$$ *****)
Central Ave. and Edith in East Downtown. Top-rated wines and delightful, artistic food.
Prairie Star ($$$$$ *****)
For a special occasion, make the drive up to Bernalillo to the award-winning Prairie Star Restaurant. Our fifth anniversary dinner here was amazing. We had a bottle of Gewurztraminer, tomato bisque, salad and bread, lamb chops, seared Ahi tuna, and the best creme brulee. The atmosphere is stylish and the service impeccable. P.S. I think we can only afford to eat here about every 5 years :)
Copeland's ($$$ ****)
Coors Blvd, just east of Cottonwood Mall (on the west side of the river)
New Orleans cuisine. Great atmosphere and bar. Try the crab cakes, a steak, or the redfish creole.
Landry's($$$ ****)
I-25 and Jefferson, on the east side of the interstate
Seafood grill. Servings can be very large!
Pappadeux ($$$ ****)
I-25 at Jefferson, in front of Century Rio 24
Trendy cajun and creole food. Grilled fish a must. Shrimp etouffee is also worth a try.
Kelly's($$ ****)
Central Ave. in Nob Hill
Great atmosphere out on the patio, fresh beer. Try the homemade root beer too! Green chile cheeseburger and Albuquerque turkey sandwich are favorites.
Korean
Yen Ching Restaurant($$$ *****)
4410 Wyoming NE (Behind Walgreens at Montgomery and Wyoming)
Excellent Korean menu with BBQ grlls at the table. Order /bul kogi/ to try it out. They have the best /chap chae/ ever! In addition, they offer sushi and chinese food. Plenty of vegetarian options.
Korean Barbeque House($$$ ***)
Central and Bryn Mayr, Nob Hill
Service is a little slow especially with a large group. The food is
quite good though. Their /neng myun/ is very refreshing.
Italian
Vivace($$$ *****)
Central Ave. in Nob Hill
Excellent pastas, wine, bread. The specials are sure to please!
Buca di Beppo($$ ***)
America's Parkway, behind Marriott at I-40 and Louisiana
Average food in very large portions. Entrees are served in 2-3 person platters. A fun setting for large groups.
Mediterranean
Mykonos Grill and Taverna($$$ ****)
Eubank and Juan Tabo, in Mountain Run Center
Excellent gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita, baklava. Arguably the best Greek food in town. Be sure to try their specials too!
Pars Cuisine($$ ****)
Near the junction of Jefferson and I-25,
northeast of the Century Rio 24 Theaters
Wonderful Persian food. James got the homestyle lamb stew and it was amazing. Cushioned floor seating is available, and belly dancers provide entertainment.
Japanese
Samurai Sushi($$$$ ****)
just west of Eubank, on Montgomery
Best Sushi in town! Try the Hae-du-bap (Korean rice mixed with sashimi.)
Japanese Kitchen($$$ *****)
Indian School, in shopping center near I-40 and Louisiana.
Excellent, authentic homestyle menu (try the Udon!), good sushi and teppan grill too.
I Love Sushi and Teppan Grill($$$ ***)
6001 San Mateo NE, Suite F4 (Next to Pier One)
A great little (inexpensive) sushi and hibachi grill place. Try the green tea ice cream for dessert.
Azuma($$$$ ***)
San Mateo north of Montgomery,on the west side of street.
Trendy sushi and teppan. Nice atmosphere. With 2-3 people, splitting their "love boat" sushi combo ($45) is a good deal. You'll sample a variety of sushi and sashimi and you won't go away hungry.
Indian
Bombay Grill($$$ ****)
In Rio Rancho, 3600 State Highway 528 NW
Best Indian restaurant in town! Try the Saag Paneer, it is 10 times better than any other.
Taj Mahal Cuisine Of India($$$ ****)
1430 Carlisle Blvd
Excellent naan, wonderful curry, mango lassi, vegetarian dishes, and rice comes with the meal.
India Kitchen($$$ ***)
6910 Montgomery
Unique dining experience, service isn't the best. Food comes in smaller portions, but its very tasty. They also offer Indian spices and ingredients for you to try at home.
Vietnamese
Saigon Restaurant($$ ****)
6001 San Mateo Blvd NE Suite D4
Start out with some spring rolls and then you must order the /pho bo/ (beef soup). They also offer combination plates. Everything is fresh and inexpensive.
Thai
Thai House Restaurant($$ ****)
106 Buena Vista Dr., across Central from UNM campus
Although the exterior looks a little questionable, the interior is
fine and the food is well worth it. The phad thai is excellent, as is
the green curry. I also had some soup there too, very filling.
Everything is fresh and inexpensive.
Brazilian
Tucano's Brazilian Grill($$$ ****)
Central and 1st, downtown
Enjoyable dining experience, but can get noisy. They bring grilled meats around to your table and you cut off a slice. The salad bar is a meal in itself. Lunch is a better value than dinner.
