Middle Channel Sand Bar Relocation February 15

Current Opened Gate: All gates fully opened.

 

All gates were fully opened (lowered) on 15-Feb (the end of the gate trial operation task 2) as shown in figure 1.  Channel bed elevation survey (figure 2) and aerial photo (photo will be posted soon) were conducted.  Water depth was decreased 1.64 ft, and getting slightly increased later following the USGS hydrograph (green circle).  Flow rate was approximately 530 cfs according to the USGS gage (08329928, at Paseo Del Norte).

Many sand bars were showed up even at the upstream (figure 3), and water depth in the fish passage was significantly decreased (figure 4).  Sand bar (sediment deposition) is existed between two vegetated islands (red circle in figure 5).  It can give effect on the west channel downstream flows and gate operations.
