Gate Trial Operation February 15

All gates were fully opened on 15-Feb before the beginning for the gate trial operation task 3.  Gate configuration was changed from close to fully open and water depth was dropped 2.32 ft in this trial operation.

Initially, gates were fully raised except #1 (figure 1).  Water depth was increased up to 3.96 ft on the PLC screen.  Downstream sand bars were showed up (figure 2) and discharge through the fish passage flow rate was increased (figure 3).

Gates located middle of the channel (gates #12, 13, and 14) were opened at first (figure 4).  Water depth was decreased 3.67 ft, and sand bars downstream of the middle of the channel were disappeared (figure 5).  Discharge through the fish passage was not much changed yet (figure 6).

Gate #12~14

Gates #1~3, #5, and #7~14 were lowered (figure 7), and water depth was observed 2.17 ft.  Upstream sand bars were showed up (figure 8).  Fish passage discharge was decreased (water depth was lowered as shown in figure 9).

All gates were fully lowered finally (figure 10), and the lowest water depth was observed 1.64 ft on the PLC screen.  More upstream sand bars were showed up (figure 11).  Riprap rocks in the fish passage were exposed since lower water depth (figure 12).
