Central Gate Opening for Removing Sand Bar on Middle
Channel April 3
Current Opened Gate: #1 (partial), #14~22.
Gates #1 and #14 ~22 were
opened to remove sand bar placed on middle channel (figure 1). Gates were set 3.5 ft water depth and 3.3 ft
was measured on PLC screen.
River discharge was about 1700
cfs at the Paseo Del Norte bridge station.
Water surface elevation was dropped down at last night and discharge was
decreased up to
950 cfs as shown in figure
2. It is probably caused by the cochiti
dam gate operation. Hydrographs along
the Rio Grande (Otowi bridge to Bosque Farm) are linked.
Sediment pump of the north
intake bay was fixed and sediment removing is in progress (figure 3).
Most of sand bar placed middle channel has been disappeared, while water depth has been decreased. Central gate opening seems working well for the sand bar removal.
