    Here, I am working on imaging each of the manned and unmanned lunar landing sites. 

This is a work in progress.

 

Luna 2. September 12, 1959. Crash landing in eastern Mare Imbrium. First probe to reach lunar surface.

Ranger 7. July 31, 1964. Crash landing in Mare Cognitum. Returned the first close-up images of lunar surface before impact.

Ranger 8. February 17, 1965. Crash landing in eastern Mare Tranquillitatis.

Ranger 9. March 21, 1965. Crash landing in western Oceanus Procellarum.

Luna 9. February 3, 1966. Soft landing.

Surveyor 1. May 30, 1966. Soft landing. Regolith is thin, perhaps only 1 meter supporting a very young age for the basalt at this site. Southwest portion of Oceanus Procellarum, north of Flamsteed.

Luna 13. December 24, 1966. Soft landing in western Oceanus Procellarum.

Surveyor 3. April 17, 1967. Soft landing in southeastern Oceanus Procellarum. This site was later visited by Apollo 12.

Surveyor 4. July 14, 1967. Crash landing in Sinus Medii due to failure of braking rocket..

Surveyor 5. September 8, 1967. Soft landing in eastern Mare Tranquillitatis. This is about 15.5 miles from the later Apollo 11 landing site.

Surveyor 6.November 7, 1967. Soft landing in Sinus Medii, 6 km from the crashing point of Surveyor 4.

Surveyor 7. January 17, 1968. Soft landing on the north rim of Tycho.

Luna 15. July 13, 1969. Soft landing and attempted sample return from Mare Crisium.

Apollo 11. July 20, 1969. Soft landing and return from "Tranquility Base."

Apollo 12. November 19, 1969. Soft landing and return from Oceanus Procellarum. Visited landing site of Surveyor 3.

Luna 16. September 1970. Soft landing and sample return from Mare Fecunditatis.

Lunokhod 1. November 1970. Soft landing of rover in western Oceanus Procellarum.

 Apollo 14. February 5, 1971. Soft landing and return from Fra Mauro.

Apollo 15. July 30, 1971. Soft landing and return from Hadley Rill on the western edge of Mare Imbrium.

Luna 20. February 1972. Soft landing and sample return from Apollonius region.

Apollo 16. April 21, 1972. Soft landing and return from Descartes.

Apollo 17. December 11, 1972. Soft landing and return from Taurus-Littrow.

Lunokhod 2. January 1973. Soft landing of rover in the vicinity of Le Monnier.

Luna 24. August 1976. Soft landing and sample return from southeastern Mare Crisium.
